ESRA recovery groups are facilitated by the recovery coaches and are particularly useful for people in early recovery. They are a safe place for people to talk about their issues and gain information and support, empowering them to build structure into their lives and thereby building and maintaining their recovery. Topics covered in the groups include; goal setting, different recovery pathways, coping with triggers and urges, wellbeing topics and signposting to other agencies where relevant. Group members are expected to be committed to working on their recovery. The recovery groups are a ‘holding space’ for people waiting to access one to one support from a recovery coach.
